The Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy is the Industry recognised qualification for those wanting to pursue a career or start their own business in Sports Massage.

This course runs Monday to Thursday over a 2 week period, 10am to 4pm. May 20th to 23rd and 27th to 30th

No previous Qualification is required. There is no Level 1 or 2 course, the Level 3 Course is the start point and upon completion you will be fully qualified to work as a Sports Massage Therapist.

Course Modules

This module will develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles of health and fitness. This includes the benefits of leading a healthy lifestyle, the short and long-term effects of exercise on the body, components of fitness, healthy eating and principles of training.

The aim of this module is to develop your knowledge and understanding of soft tissue injury and dysfunction. This will include the differences between injury and dysfunction, covering the different types, causes and symptoms of each. In addition, you will explore the process of soft tissue repair, factors that may influence the repair process and the importance of the inflammatory process.

The aim of this module is to develop the knowledge and understanding related to professional practice in sports massage. This will include legislation, use of chaperones, informed consent, scope of practice, contra-indications, referral and record keeping. You will also explore expected standards of professionalism and the importance of continual professional development.

The aim of this module is to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills required to plan, apply and evaluate sports massage methods for pre, post, inter-event and maintenance purposes. It will also include assessment and screening of the client. In addition, the importance of evaluation and reflection will be covered. You will also learn about the history and development of sports massage and how sports massage can complement other therapies and treatment

The aim of this unit is to develop the knowledge and understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to sports massage. You will explore the anatomy and physiology of each of the body systems and look at the physical, physiological, neurological and psychological effects of sports massage on these systems.
