Introduction

As a massage therapist, you work directly with people’s bodies every single day.

A standard first aid certificate is useful, but it doesn’t cover the specific situations you’re likely to face as a therapist. This course is different. It’s built around the real-world scenarios that sports massage therapists encounter in clinics, at sporting events, and in private practice across Northern Ireland.

This course is designed for Level 3 massage therapists who want a first aid qualification that’s actually relevant to how they work. Whether you’re treating clients in a clinic, providing pitch-side support at GAA matches or rugby training, or covering community sporting events, this course prepares you for the situations you’re most likely to face.

It’s also valuable if your insurance provider or employer requires an up-to-date first aid certificate — you’ll meet that requirement while gaining skills that go far beyond a generic course.

What You’ll Learn

This is a fully hands-on, in-person course. You’ll work through practical scenarios designed around the types of emergencies and incidents most relevant to  therapists.

The course covers managing acute soft tissue injuries, recognising and responding to cardiac emergencies, dealing with concussion and head injuries in a sporting context, anaphylaxis and allergic reactions, managing shock, bleeding, and fractures, choking and airway management, CPR and AED use, and how to assess a scene and manage an emergency until help arrives.

Every scenario is taught with the therapist in mind — so the context, the language, and the practical application all relate directly to your day-to-day work.

How It’s Delivered

This course is delivered entirely in person at practical venues across Northern Ireland. You’ll train in small groups with hands-on practice throughout. No death by PowerPoint — just real scenarios, real equipment, and skills you can use immediately.
